That Singalong Show at the Fitz

Thanks to all who came and sang so loudly and so beautifully at the Fitzgerald Theater on May 5.

In case you missed it, the show was All Together Now: The sociable art of the singalong, an evening of sitting around and making beautiful music together, with the help of yours truly at the piano, some old bouncing-ball film clips and a cast of notable front porch minstrels and storytellers, including:

Prudence Johnson
Kevin Kling
Maria Jette
Beth Gilleland
T Mychael Rambo
Jerry Rau
Gary Rue
Sima Shumilovsky
Cyril Paul

...and of course, the unmistakable sound of the Amazing Singing Audience. The lyrics are right here in case you've forgotten any.

A 53-minute version of the original two-hour show was recently broadcast on MPR and is now archived on MPR’s website in case you’d like to listen (again). I had no hand in the editing; I’m not sure I could have taken the knife to it. All Together Now

Your Place? Your Neighborhood?

I’m hatching plans and gathering input for future singalong shows, perhaps in a congenial coffeeshop near you, perhaps in the congenial (and spacious) living room of someone you know. Stay tuned, and let me know if you’ve got any bright ideas. Email me here.
