GREETINGS FROM DAN
I'm excited to be heading to New York for an appearance on A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor at Town Hall Saturday April 12. Maria Jette and I will be singing songs from our new CD, The Siren's Song: Wodehouse and Kern on Broadway. It'll be broadcast live, tune in if you can.
Once Upon a River is what we've come to call the annual locally-sourced Earth Day variety show up in St. Croix Falls WI, this year on Saturday April 26. Farmers, park rangers, an ad hoc community choir and special musical guests from The Cities: troubadour Larry Long plus a Costa Rican marimba ensemble from the U of MN.
I've wanted to do a pop-sing-along-meets-French-and-Italian-lesson sorta show for a long time, and now I get to take the concept for a spin Sunday afternoon April 27, 3pm at the Alliance Francaise in the warehouse district of Minneapolis. It's called Pop Transatlantic, and admission includes vino and hors d'oeuvres.
Looking forward to logging some miles again with storyteller pal Kevin Kling. We'll be wrapping up our Walkin' Shoes tour of greater MN this month with appearances in St. Cloud, Cloquet and International Falls, plus a homecoming show in St. Paul June 11.
Larry Long, a friend and colleague of Pete Seeger, is hosting and orchestrating an all-star tribute evening at the Fitzgerald Theater on May 3, what would have been Seeger's 95th birthday. I'll be the guy at the piano.
Winter is over, but if you need any further reason to sing, there's the monthly sing-along in St Anthony Park (third Mondays: April 21, May 19...) and another in Loring Park (third Tuesdays: April 22, May 20...). Hope to see you soon.
